The Game of Hope – This game was designed by Johann Kaspar Hechtel and published in Nuremberg in 1799. It was a board game and known under the name of Game of Hope won whoever first to reach the number 35, Anchor/Hope. In this game there are already all 36 motifs (the rider, the ship, the house, the ring, etc.) of the later Lenormand cards. The first Lenormand oracle cards appear in Koblenz around 1846. But the original from 1799 also included instructions that explains the oracle with the cards. These 36 cards in folding box, 5.9 x 9.1 cm, are a reprint of the original from 1799, the accompanying book contains both the original and today’s instructions on how to lay the cards and illuminate the historical backgrounds.
